How Was School Today? - Interactive Presentation
How does the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation make you feel like you’re experiencing a day in the life of students, teachers and parents?
They do it by creating an interactive and immersive presentation with Tactica Communications.
CBC presented Tactica with exactly the kind of creative challenge we love: bringing stories and characters to life. When they threw in “…and make it award-winning”, we were happy to comply.
The result is an intense identification and connection with our audience that won a Canadian New Media Award for Excellence in News and Information.
How Was School Today is an interactive CDROM produced by Tactica Communications and CBC. The project provides insights into Manitoba's school system told from people on the front lines. CBC provided audio and video editorial content, but Tactica knew we had to immerse ourselves in the subject’s environment to capture the true experience. We travelled around the province photographing students, parents, teachers and administrators to put faces to voices and powerfully complete the narrative.
The interactive presentation reveals its stories as users flip through a Flash-based virtual notebook filled with stunning photography, audio and video. The notebook metaphor absorbs users in the life of a student as they voyeuristically explore the personal stories within.
