Tiga Talk: A cross-platform digital media project
Targeted at children aged 2-5, and their parents and teachers, the TIGA TALK!, website’s goal is to be a Canadian hub for teaching and developing:
- early learning of Aboriginal languages;
- healthy speech and language skills;
- appreciation of traditional Aboriginal skills and culture;
- appreciation and awareness of the many different rich cultures across our country;
- imaginative play; and
- respect for elders.
The entire site will mimic the set of Tiga’s Den on the TV series – Tiga Talk!. Tiga, a soft toy wolf pup, lives with his friend Kokum and her two grandchildren, Jodie and Jason. Jodie, Jason and Tiga share a secret – when no adults are around, Tiga comes alive!!
On the website Tiga’s magical Den will be an interactive learning playground with a choice of language from several Aboriginal languages or English. As you explore around the various locations on the site you get guided reinforcement from Tiga (i.e. As you click to play a game his response might be “This is one of my favorite games! YEAH!, etc.)
All the games and activities will be designed to enhance and support toys, games and curriculum materials which will be available through the online store.
